Partners in MinistryAs Christians, we are part of a community that has been knit together across time and space, across history and geography, into one through Jesus Christ. Ministry would not be possible if not for the great multitude and variety of people whom God calls to work together for the kingdom of heaven.
One place and time where this is most clearly visible is at the triennial Sr. High Youth Gathering of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Every three years, 30,000+ teens from across the country gather in a single city to worship, learn and serve. They are sent out to do service projects all dressed in the same color shirt. The "sea of orange shirts" has been to New Orleans twice now, giving hope to residents there still recovering from Hurricane Katrina and astounding the youth who participate by the visual representation of God's Church. |
