Reaching Out in Love

This is what it's all about. This is why Christ brought us together and made us Church. There are a lot of people who need help, a lot of people who need love, and a lot of work to do; "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." (Luke 10:2)

As Christians, we are invited into God's continuing work of creating the world. We are invited to live out what we hear in church every Sunday. This invitation is God's gift to us, God's way of saying to you, "I love you, and I need you to help."

This is the Church's mission.

Here at Our Redeemer's, there are several ways to get involved with the mission of the church. Mission includes everything from evangelism to volunteering to working with fellow churches and even non-Christians to do God's work in our community.

What we are about extends far beyond what happens within our walls. Our purpose is best shown not by what we do on Sunday, but by what we are doing Monday through Friday. As theologian and author Frederick Buechner writes, “If you want to know who you are, watch your feet. Because where your feet take you, that is who you are.” (from The Alphabet of Grace)

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matt. 28:18-20

Our Redeemer's Mission Statement:

"Living in God's amazing grace, we welcome all to worship, learn,
and serve as Christ
teaches us."

Mission at Our Redeemer's

  • Service Events. There are several ways to serve in the congregation, both in church and out in the community. This page has a list of service events coming up at Our Redeemer's. Also keep an eye on our calendar page for more ways that you can be involved in the life of the congregation.
  • Partners in Ministry. While we work here in Benson, we are partners with other Christians across the globe. On this page, you can learn more about our sponsored missionaries in Japan, the Bencke's, and our partner synods both in the US and in Africa.
  • Trust Fund. The OR Trust Fund is a "gift that keeps on giving." The Trust Fund committee administers this fund and uses the interest income from it to support church and community programs, give to the people in need, and help God's people do the work of building up and nurturing the community around us. Visit the trust fund page to learn more.
  • Local Service Opportunities. Still looking for other ways to get involved? This page on the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's website can help you connect with people and programs locally, nationally or globally to serve God in our world. Visit this link for more details about how you can serve.
  • Stories of Faith in Action. Stories of Faith in Action is a publication of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America which lifts up the work of everyday people who answer God's call to get involved in different ways. Check out this great resource to be inspired by the stories of people who have put their faith to work, and for ideas of new ways to serve in your setting.
