A Note to our Members about Winter Weather Travel:
We all know that Minnesota can offer some pretty harsh winter extremes. Occasionally, the temperature can drop to well below zero, winter storms can leave large amounts of snow on driveways, sidewalks, and streets, and ice can form just about anywhere, making it hazardous to get around. As Minnesotans, some of us take pride in being able to not let a little weather stop us from going about our business. However, there are times when even we hardy prairie-folk have to admit defeat before Old Man Winter.
At Our Redeemer's, we promise to do our best to let you know when worship will be cancelled as early as possible. However, just as it is hard to predict the weather, it's also hard to predict how much affect the weather will have on our being able to get around in it. Sometimes, that winter "storm of the century" turns out to be nothing more than a flurry, and sometimes the sunny day the forecaster predicts turns into an ice-storm. The bottom line is that sometimes, we will make mistakes, and in the end we just don't know what's going to happen.
So, we are asking everyone to please be careful. As much as we love gathering together as a community every Sunday for worship, if you cannot get out of your driveway, if there is too much ice, if the roads are too bad, if the wind is especially fierce, PLEASE STAY HOME. The last thing anybody wants is for somebody to get stuck in the ditch or fall and hurt themselves trying to get into church when the weather is bad. If you do not feel safe traveling, or if you are not sure if it's a good idea to risk it, then don't. Even if worship is not cancelled, we'd prefer to miss you and see you again next week rather than send you flowers in the hospital or come to help pull your car out of the culvert.
Remember that Sunday we have church, our worship is broadcast at 11:00 am at 1290 AM on the radio and cable channel 180. Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church would much rather welcome you to join us via broadcast than have you put yourself in danger of harm or property damage trying to get here when the weather is bad. Be safe this winter with God's blessings!
